Simple On-Site Repair

This example shows a simple on site repair. Beautifully designed windows in Newtown, broken piece on the left hand window.

I am able to repair this type of damage on site, the lead is not damaged and the correct matching glass from the period was used.

Repair Requiring De-Glaze

This example shows a badly damaged sidelight from the entrance to The Queenscliff Inn.

The window was removed from its opening which was then boarded up. The window was then taken to the workshop and repaired. In this example the broken glass was matched with the correct period glass, the entire leadlight was cleaned, weak solder joints reinforced then everything was polished to a nice shine, the leadlight was then installed.

Stained Glass Restoration

Full restoration of Stained Glass at St Marks Church, Darling Point, Sydney.

This restoration was was overseen by strict guidelines of The National Trust. It was decided that broken painted glass would not be recreated, rather we kept the original glass by leading the cracks as can be seen in the completed image below. It is imperative to retain original glass wherever possible. Although we had the services of Shirley Batty, one of Australia’s most experienced glass painters, to match the original glass and paintwork accurately would not be possible.

This is one of two windows I restored in this beautiful church.
